Back to the Future

Val d'Isere, France

Alpine World Ski Championship Val d'Isere 2009.  <-- Where I am going next weekend with Liz, Kara and Adela.  We don't have school that Friday and it's only a train ride away :-)  I AM SO EXCITED!  (for 1, I do actually have friends and for 2, I am so excited!)

Plans for this weekend are still developing... people have been talking about going to the different museums/going to Lausanne (which is actually closer to me than Geneva.)  I'm not sure what I'm going to be up to depending on my cold but all I know is that I am going to take the best two or three runs in the entire world.

Haha and I'm looking forward to tomorrow because we all (i.e. us students) decided that we were going to make it a "casual Friday" and wear jeans.  This needs some explaining- the first day that we got here, Earle told us that we were to always dress formally in our group meetings, meaning every single day.  It makes sense to dress nicely when going to the UN or to hospitals etc, but when we meet in classrooms it's kind of ridiculous that we wear dress pants and skirts, especially because Earle has worn jeans with us and because Swiss people actually do wear them quite often.  Plus, we had NO idea about this rule beforehand; one would have thought that would have been valuable information for the packing list.  Soooo, we decided we would all revolt tomorrow since we're only meeting until 12:15 in a classroom in Nyon.  Maybe Earle won't even notice, but it will be nice to not have to scrounge together another "business casual" outfit!  It's funny that I am so excited about this.

Anyway.... today was another good day full of French and public health.  We went to a psychiatric hospital for Alzheimer's patients and got a briefing by both a doctor and nurse about the disease and the strategies of prevention, diagnosis and treatment.  Very interesting and pertinent for both the developed and developing world.

Anyway, I must end this because tonight I am watching "Retour vers le Futur" with my host parents and it starts sooooon
