I met Liz for coffee (tea, actually) this morning and that was absolutely delightful! Of all people, Liz would know what it feels like to get ready to leave the country for a few months; she spent a year after high school studying in Germany and spent all last semester in India. I'm not exactly leaving for so long (Germany) or going somewhere so foreign (India), but talking to her made me feel excited and self-assured. Plus, she's spending the coming semester in Chicago, so it was good to hear about her new apartment and getting settled in the area.
OOO and to follow through with earlier posts, I did finally get the group list and (bonus) I received an e-mail from my host family. Group list- everyone looks pretty friendly and haha, it will certainly be a female-dominated group. I think there are twenty(ish) girls and two guys. Actually, a few people are from around here, so I will be interested to connect with them on that. As far as my host family- they sent me the nicest e-mail! I hope I didn't completely butcher French in my response back to them. It's a family of four- there are two daughters, one is 2.5 and the other is 13. It looks like I will be quite a few miles up the lake from Geneva, but it should make for a pretty commute. Hopefully I will be a good guest and don't unintentionally say or do something offensive!
So yeah, tomorrow is the day! I'll have a few days of orientation once I get to Geneva and then I'll get to connect with my host family on Saturday. I'm not sure what the internet situation will be like at this point, but I will do my best to keep you in the loop!
Au revoir!
